New features in One UI 8.5
According to rumours, Samsung will start a new beta version of One UI at the end of this month, in selected regions. The Samsung Galaxy S25 family could then be used to test One UI 8.5. This new version will then also become available permanently later, including for other models. Reportedly, the Galaxy S26 series will also come out with this version. With the new version, we get some changes to the User Interface (UI), and the Quick Panel with quick settings is more customisable. Furthermore, support for partial screen recording is added and the Clock gets improvements. Also, the lock screen can adjust the layout perfectly if you have a picture of a human or pet, and AI is further enhanced. In One UI 8.5, it should also become possible to share photos faster with people who can be seen in the photo.

Call history
Looking back at previous conversations with Bixby is easier than ever. You can now access your call history from the side panel in the Bixby app.
Connectivity
Share storage
Access your files anywhere. Files from your other Samsung phones, tablets and PCs are available in the My files app on your phone. You can also access your phone's files on other Samsung devices, even your TV.
Quickly connect to Smart View devices
Connect to your favourite screen faster. You can now add a shortcut to your home screen to mirror your phone's screen directly to a TV or other display.
Improved Auracast features
It's easier than ever to listen and broadcast audio with Auracast. Options for both broadcasting and listening can now be found in the Audio Broadcast menu in Settings.
Voice broadcasting
Broadcast your voice to people around you with Auracast. In addition to media sound, you can now broadcast your voice via your phone's built-in microphone.
Battery and power
Improved battery info
See your battery usage more clearly. The revamped battery settings screen makes it easier to check remaining time, charge status and daily usage for the past week.
Improved power saving
Use Energy Saving to make your battery last longer without charging. Choose Standard for moderate savings and customisable limits, or choose Maximum to turn off all non-essential functions and make your battery last as long as possible.
Accessibility
Easily control Bluetooth hearing aids
Get instant access to the settings for your Bluetooth hearing aids via the Accessibility shortcut. A pop-up appears allowing you to change your listening programme, enable or disable ambient sound and more.
Control magnification with mouse or keyboard
Keep what you need enlarged in view with these new options. You can have the magnified area follow the cursor as you type or move when changing focus with the keyboard. When using a mouse, you can make the magnified area move when you move the pointer to the edge of the screen.
Actions
The Automatic action after stopping the mouse pointer feature is split into two functions. The Dwell action lets you set custom actions when your mouse does not move for a certain amount of time. Angle actions allow you to set a different action for each corner of the screen.

More customisable quick panel
Arrange your quick settings exactly how you want them. You can now add, remove, reorder and reorganise controls in the quick panel.
Early reminder alerts
Receive notifications before reminders expire so you don't forget important tasks. You can decide how far in advance you want to receive notifications for each reminder.
Partial screen recording
Record only what you need in your screen recordings. You can now select only the part of the screen you want to record.
Calculator
Save time with calculations. Numbers and formulas copied to your clipboard are suggested when you open Calculator, so you can enter them with a quick tap.
Keep window sizes in DeX
DeX now remembers the size and position of your app windows. When you reopen an app, it will look exactly as it did when you left it.
Clock
Weather alarm backgrounds
Wake up to an alarm clock that prepares you for the day's weather. Your alarm clock screen can now display the current weather conditions in the background when it goes off.
Time zone converter
Compare time zones at a glance. With the new slider in the Clock app, you can easily view the time difference between places around the world.
Samsung Health
Improved weekly reports
Get a more complete picture of your health every week. Weekly reports now include data from your medication tracker and mindfulness sessions.
Improved sharing experience
Share your workouts your way. Combine your workout stats with photos of your workout to create the perfect social media post.
Start meditations from your watch
Find peace right from your wrist. You can now start favourite or recommended meditations directly on your Galaxy Watch without reaching for your phone.

Check your antioxidant levels at any time. Measure directly from your Galaxy Watch, even when not connected to your phone. Works with the Galaxy Watch8 and Galaxy Watch Ultra.
Security and privacy
Theft protection
Keep your phone and data safe in case of loss or theft. Enable 'Lock on failed authentication' to automatically lock the screen on too many failed attempts to authenticate your identity with your fingerprint, PIN, pattern or password.
Disable auto-lock temporarily
If you want to temporarily disable Autoblocker security, there is a new option that allows you to automatically re-enable it 30 minutes later. That way you won't forget.
Quick sharing
Avoid unwanted sharing requests. You can now set Quick Share to only receive files from other devices signed in to your Samsung account or Google account.
Photo sharing suggestions
Share photos faster with the right people. When you share photos with friends or family, Quick Share recognises who is on them and suggests sharing them directly with those people.
Start and lock screens
Automatic lock screen layout
Wallpapers with images of people or pets now always fit perfectly. When you choose a picture for your lock screen, the layout is automatically adjusted so that the clock and widgets do not cover important parts of the picture.
More customisable clock fonts
Personalise your lock screen clock. You can now adjust the thickness of more fonts to match your favourite look.
Weather
Improved weather widget
Quickly view the expected precipitation in the Weather widget on your home screen. The widget now shows a graph if precipitation is expected in the next few hours.
Pollen index
Check the amount of pollen in the air to keep your allergies under control. You can check pollen concentrations from trees, grass and ambrosia.
