Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold presented
Samsung recently made headlines with the Galaxy Z TriFold, a smartphone where you can fold the screen twice. The phone has now been officially presented, allowing us to share all the specifications with you. At Mobile World Congress in Barcelona almost three years ago, DroidApp already gave you a taste of how this way of folding works. Now, the Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold has been officially announced.

Size and screen
When unfolded, the smartphone features a 10.0-inch screen. This screen should offer the same experience as three 6.5-inch screens side by side. The front screen is a 6.5-inch screen with Full-HD+ resolution. This is an AMOLED panel with a refresh rate of 1-120Hz. Folded open, a 10.0-inch AMOLED screen appears with a resolution of 2160 x 1584 pixels, and the same refresh rate. The size is also known: unfolded, this is 159.2 x 214.1 millimetres and a thickness of about 3.9 millimetres. Folded up, the device is 159.2 x 75.0 millimetres and a thickness of 12.9 millimetres. In comparison, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 is thicker when unfolded (4.2 millimetres) but considerably thinner when folded: 8.9 millimetres. The weight comes out at 309 grams.

Samsung says it uses the most advanced hinges to date, which should ensure a more stable and smooth fold. A titanium hinge housing protects the folding mechanism. Samsung also promises high quality control. The large screen should offer many possibilities. Be it for multitasking, or drawing, or whatever. The Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold should offer every possibility in this. There is also support for standalone Samsung DeX, allowing you to create a complete working environment.

Specifications
Samsung wants the Galaxy Z TriFold to offer a perfect balance between portability, premium performance and productivity. Previously, Huawei came out with a tri-fold smartphone. That device offers a 10.2-inch screen with a much higher resolution of 3184 x 2232 pixels. On board the device is the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. The 5600 mAh battery has the ability to charge at up to 45W. This battery is spread across the three screens. There is a 200-megapixel main camera, 12-megapixel wide-angle lens and a 10-megapixel telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom. At the front in the cover screen is another 10-megapixel camera, while there is also a 10-megapixel camera in the unfolded screen.
Samsung will release the Galaxy Z TriFold first in home country South Korea. After that, the smartphone will be released in the US, China, Taiwan, Singapore and the UAE, and only at selected shops. For now, nothing is known about the smartphone coming to Europe. In the home country, the device will cost 2,100 euros, but the phone is expected to be considerably more expensive in other regions.
