Xiaomi event in Vienna

DroidApp travelled to the Austrian capital Vienna. There, we are introduced to Xiaomi's new products. The manufacturer is showing new watches here, as well as other products. The announcement came right after the presentation of the new Xiaomi 17T models. The centrepiece is the new Violet Collection. This is a range of products that come in a violet colour. It will be available for the Xiaomi 17T, Buds 6 and the Sound Play. And these are all products we were able to see in Vienna today.

Xiaomi Watch S5

Xiaomi Watch S5

The new Xiaomi Watch S5 is a smartwatch with a size of 46 millimetres. In doing so, the watch weighs 46 grams and is 11 millimetres thin. The manufacturer has worked on a neat look, with a stainless steel frame and different materials for straps, including a genuine leather watch band. There is an AMOLED screen that is easy to read even on sunny days. Thereby, thanks to hardware and software optimisations, you get comprehensive insights into your health. Thanks to Passion Mode, gestures are detected and converted into measurable data. It measures, for instance, heart rate, calories burned and the number of cheers. This includes, for example, cheering arm movements.

The Xiaomi Watch S5 can handle more than 150 sports modes. It also features an extended heart rate sensor and measures your sleep even more accurately, allowing you to view comprehensive reports. Xiaomi delivers the watch with its own operating system, based on HyperOS 3. From your watch, you can control smart devices linked in Xiaomi Home directly from your wrist. The Watch S5 offers an 815 mAh battery that lasts up to 21 days.

Xiaomi Smart Band 10 Pro

Xiaomi Smart Band 10 Pro

Another new watch is the Xiaomi Smart Band 10 Pro. This smart model has a 1.74-inch AMOLED screen and is nice and light at 21.6 grams. Thanks to an improved PPG module, heart rate measurement is even more accurate. Keep track of your activities with ease thanks to support for over 150 sports modes. Improvements can also be found in sleep monitoring, the brand promises. For female users, you can link with Clue for menstrual and cycle tracking.

Handy about the Xiaomi Smart Band 10 Pro si that you can pair both a Xiaomi smartphone, and an iPhone at the same time. The vibrator can trigger a different vibration based on the notification. There is an NFC version, which allows you to use the watch to pay, but it only works with the bank Curve.

Xiaomi Buds 6

For sound, the earbuds use an 11 mm dynamic driver, tuning by Harman and Qualcomm aptX Lossless technology. This should ensure high-resolution audio with powerful bass and clear highs. In addition, adaptive sound adapts the mid and low frequencies to different ear shapes, keeping the sound more consistent. The Buds 6 also support dimensional audio with head-tracking. In this, the sound changes with your head movements, giving you a more spatial 360-degree effect when watching films or live recordings, for example. In addition, the earbuds offer AI noise reduction, which it says should reduce background noise by up to 95dB.

If you lose your earbuds, you can quickly find them again via Apple Find My and Google Find Hub.

Xiaomi Sounds Play

Xiaomi Sound Play

Xiaomi also announced a new Bluetooth speaker in Vienna: the Xiaomi Sound Play. Work has been done on mood lighting on the bottom for an even sleeker design, and it is IP68 dust- and water-resistant. Thanks to its 2600 mAh battery, there is up to 14 hours of playing time on one charge and you can fully recharge that battery in 2.5 hours. Available in black, white, green and purple, the speaker comes with an 18W sound engine. The device offers stereo sound with True Wireless Stereo (TWS), and there is support for party mode via Auracast. Up to 100 supporting speakers then work in sync for both audio and light.

Even more smart products

Xiaomi has also announced four more new smart home appliances: an air conditioner, fridge, clothes dryer and robotic hoover. All devices are linked to the Xiaomi ecosystem and can be controlled via the Xiaomi Home app, including support for voice control via Google Assistant and Alexa.

The Mijia GentleAir air conditioner focuses on comfortable cooling and heating with a gentle airflow designed to reduce harsh drafts. You can choose from multiple airflow modes for different situations, while rapid cooling in 30 seconds and heating in 60 seconds provide quick temperature control. It also uses AI to automatically optimise energy consumption based on home conditions.

With a capacity of 621 litres, you can cool and freeze the Xiaomi Mijia Side-by-Side fridge in nice and big. Thanks to multiple compartments, you can organise groceries conveniently. Here, Xiaomi combines dual inverter cooling with technology that helps reduce odours and bacteria, keeping food fresher for longer. The app lets you adjust temperatures and receive notifications when the door is open, among other things.

The new Mijia 8kg washer-dryer combines washing and drying in one appliance and is designed with a focus on energy efficiency. The model is said to be 30 per cent more efficient than the EU energy class A standard. High-temperature steam allows the appliance to remove bacteria, while features such as a 15-minute quick wash programme and automatic drying control should make daily use easier. Via the Xiaomi Home app, you can manage programmes remotely and save personal settings.

Then there is also a new robot hoover. It is the Xiaomi Robot Vacuum Cleaner H50 Pro and is meant for largely hands-free cleaning. The robot features a suction power of 15,000 Pa, dual anti-clit technology against trapped hair and extendable arms to clean better along edges and corners. Thanks to laser scanning and obstacle detection, it navigates around the house independently. The automatic base station takes care of dust collection, self-cleaning and drying mop pads, among other things. The H50 Pro retails for €499.

Xiaomi will release the Xiaomi Watch S5 for 179.99 euros. The Smart Band 10 Pro is priced from 89.99 euros, the Buds 6 from 119.99 euros and the Sound Play from 49.99 euros.
